May 27th, 2012

Today is a beautiful summer day in Kitchener, Ontario.  I had a couple of peonies and finished pressing some of the petals of them so that I could have a supply of peony petals for my card making during the winter months.  I was able to do some lilacs, some bridal wreath spirea... they all turn out perfect for my cards.  My daughter-in-law, Janet, loved my cards with the pressed flowers and asked me to make her a whole bunch!!  Twenty of them went over on Thursday evening and she was impressed.  I was just as impressed with the shrimp and scallop dinner that I was served over pasta alfredo.  Enjoying an evening with my youngest son, his wife and my latest grandbaby... wow!  Perfect.

I now have a good selection of white peony petals that should last for a year of card making.  I'll be getting a couple of pink peonies next week and they should press just as nicely.  The peonies even retain some of their fragrance after drying and pressing so that my work space really does smell good!

The peony background doesn't show that bright on the green background.  It is very fine, much like tissue paper and gives the same effect once pressed and dried.  Carnation petals and bridal wreath spirea complete this first card.

Some flowers from my garden that are originally red in colour, press to purple.  Makes for some fun experiences in waiting for what comes out of the press.

This little note was just for fun, and I enjoyed making it.  The leaves were from a couple of punches that I have, cut from copper metallic paper and the blooms came in a package as is.  Just for fun.
